A multifunctional sports hall, which was built in Varaždin for the purpose of the World Handball Championship in 2009, was ceremoniously opened on the Day of the Town on 6th December 2008. The Hall covers 20,000 square meters and consist of two halls. A bigger one can seat 5000 people and a smaller one can seat 200 people. Additional facilities include a fitness centre, a bowling alley, a sauna as well as business premises. The Varaždin Sports Hall was built by using a public-private partnership.
